This university is a public university, in which there are 31,217 full-time students and 11,000 part-time students majoring in 123 specialties such as literature, science, industry, agriculture, business, law, art, PE, and so on. Up to now, the number of teaching and administrative staff adds up to more than 1,900 faculties, among whom 1,316 teachers are engaged in teaching and scientific research. And about 500 of these teachers have achieved titles of full and associate professors, and 800 teachers are doctoral or master’s degree holders. In addition, there are more than 200 professional guest professors and foreign teachers out of the regular payroll.

This university covers 473 hectares, in which the floor space is 920,000 square meters, and at present another floor space of 900,000 square meters is under construction. The university has been constructing learning resources according to the standard of China’s key universities. The equipments for teaching and experiment are worth 160 million yuan (RMB) and the collection of books has reached 2.715 million volumes. Hence, teachers can make good use of multimedia and internet in class.

In the university, there are nine subjects covering literature, law, economics, history, pedagogy, management, science, engineering, agronomy. There are 12 colleges and 8 departments. There are 6 campuses, namely, New Campus, East Campus, West Campus, South Campus, North Campus and Double Moon Campus. The university has set up the multi-systems and its attached divisions are International Exchange College, Vocational College of Technology, Mengshan Campus, and Yishui Campus.

Teaching Quality

i) The Construction of Software and Hardware

Under the direction of Provincial Government, Linyi Municipal Government bears the gross investment of 2.6 billion yuan(RMB) to construct the hardware of New Campus such as the land, buildingetc. The university undertakes the construction of software such as teachers, equipments, book,etc. Linyi Municipal Government and this university are starting to establish a modern comprehensive university with mutual efforts. In recent years, the university paid much more attention to the construction of teaching quality and expanded the learning resources for students. Most of the teachers have obtained Doctoral Degrees or Master’s Degrees. The disposition of teaching experiments, lab apparatus, books and multi-media teaching has gone beyond the national required standard .The courses construction has been among the top in China. The construction of teaching resources has become the only model in Shandong Province.

ii) Enrollment and Employment

By now, the number of full-time students’ enrollment has already been among the top three in Shandong Province. The rates of undergraduates for the postgraduate qualifying examination 45.6% and college students for the undergraduate qualifying examination are respectively up to 75%. Both the enrollment rate of newcomers’ options for academic disciplines and the employment rate of the four-year students are up to 100%. iii) The Disposition of Learning Resources Every year the university invests no less than 5 million yuan(RMB) in experimental facilities , no less than 10 million yuan(RMB) in books and no less than 10 million yuan(RMB) in introducing international courses. More than 200 talents with Doctoral or Master’s Degrees are imported every year. The quotas of investment for improving teaching quality are in the leading position among universities in China. The university enrolls new students from the whole country and teachers are recruited both at home and abroad. The university is thoroughly carrying out the policy of international cooperation, and its goal of being a famous university with high quality moves forward steadily.

iv) Academic Research

The university has strengthened the work of academic research according to the requirement of teaching. Since 2000, teachers have published more than 7,000 academic papers (books). The teachers’ academic achievements occupy the leading place in the universities of the whole province. 76% of teachers have academic projects authorized by our university, the Government of Shandong Province or China. The teachers’ theses collected in EI or SCI are also in the leading position among the newly-established universities of the whole province. The teachers have undertaken or participated in 500 national or provincial and ministerial academic projects. 380 academic findings and 23 teaching achievements are obtained and rewarded by the nation or province.

International Exchange and Cooperation

The university steadily advances through international joint and opening policies. The teachers in it are recruited from home and broad. Up to now, the university has signed agreements of sending students to each other’s with higher education institutions from the U.S., Russia, Australia, Japan, Korea as well as other countries. New teaching modes have come into being, which are cooperative modes of “3+1” and “4+2”. In addition, This university and University of New Haven in USA have jointly started a course program of MPA. The university will constantly employ foreign teachers, and enroll foreign students. Meanwhile, the university has reached agreements with Illinois University, California University and Schiller University of the U.S., and Cambridge University, and Warwick University of Great Britain, to jointly promote the constructions of software, management system and subsidiary schools
